Wire wound transformers are a range of transformers combining the reliability of non-interference wire wound transformers with the flexibility of electronic transformers. Supplied with approx. 2m of mains lead. They do not have to be earthed.
This range of transformers can be used with dimmers as long as the dimmer is suitable for an inductive load.
These transformer are fitted with a thermal regulator switch which will shut the transformer down if it gets too hot. If this happens then the transformer should be left to cool down then switched off at the mains for 20 - 25 seconds, this will re-set the regulator switch.
